Welcome to Musica11y

Musica11y is a prototype accessible musical WebXR application.
Musica11y (pronounced music-ally) is accessible virtual reality musical instrument that can be accessed and played on 2D platforms (desktop and tablet formats) and in virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) or a mixture of the two (XR).

Musica11y.net is still in its proof of concept stage that a lightweight music programme can be hosted on a web-browser and perform like a traditional digital musical instrument. The unique aspect of Musica11y.net is that it is designed for diverse interaction methods to facilitate diverse access needs. A musician can create an account with Musica11y.net and assign music notes to a grid of 'spatial anchors'. Spatial anchors are used in immersive VR technologies to assign a place in space where objects can be assigned. When saved, the 2D musical grid can be played in VR using any immersive headset.

Musica11y.net has adopted an open-source approach to foster peer development of back-end features alongside a platform for sharing virtual reality musical instruments.
